There is something truly magical about the world Cassandra Clare builds, something I believe is sacred and pure and wonderfully sinful. Maybe it's her descriptive writing, how every word curls in your mind and through the mist of your imagination forms the breathtaking scenery and atmosphere of the novel. Or perhaps it's her characters, the shape of them brought effortlessly to life off the pages, becoming a breathing, living part of your heart. Maybe it's the story, the heart stopping, roller coaster ride that sweeps you off your feet right from the start, forever entangling you in these wildly inspiring tales.
I had read the Mortal Instruments (which I strongly recommend reading if you haven't already) before this, so I was hesitant to read the Infernal Devices, in case it disappointed me, or outshined the beloved, aforementioned series. As the story unfolded, I was immediately hooked, and all my worries and doubts melted away when I realized how tied together both series were, that it felt like I was just filling in the missing puzzle pieces for this epic story of Lightwood’s, Herondale’s, Fairchild’s, and Morgenstern's. Not only that, but the characters, hearing them, seeing them, feeling their emotions mirrored in my own heart, I was rendered speechless. This is such a moving, emotional story about the most amazing, beautifully dysfunctional love triangle that ever existed, and that couldn't be more perfect. I really recommend reading the Infernal Devices, and all of her books, because Cassandra Clare is one of the greatest storytellers ever, and I promise you won't regret it.
